This is a copy of my application submitted in April. It is not to be considered the "standard" by its thoroughness or its length, however, it will show you what a detailed application looks like.Submitted April 1st, 2008

-Attendance: My attendance record with my last raiding guild was at roughly 60%, this was however a guild that ran 13 days on, 1 day off (Raided every night save for every other Sunday). At the time I was also dating. I am currently single, so I should be able to do even better than that. With Devastation’s listed raid hours, I expect to be able to raid minimum 75%+ Attendance, often higher

World of Warcraft Information
-Character Name: Vazen
-Race, Class: Troll, Mage.
-Server: Vashj, born and raised!
-Talents: I am currently specced pure 61pt Frost. I am willing to respec or do whatever else is necessary.
-Previous Guilds: City of Refuge – The only guild I have really been a part of on WoW. My previous guild experience is from Everquest. I spent 5 years doing what you might consider hardcore raiding, from 8 days every two weeks, up to 13 days out of every two weeks. I was a member of “Watchers” (http://www.eqwatchers.com/) of Cazic-Thule server for nearly two years, and a member of Triality (http://www.trialityguild.com/) from the Maelin Starpyre server for 9 months. For those who are familiar with Everquest, you can see my character profile here:
http://eq.magelo.com/profile/911190-Reason for Leaving:
City of Refuge – CoR is an overarching organization that contains teams on numerous games including Counter-Strike, Day of Defeat, Battlefield 2, Guild Wars, and a few others including World of WarCraft. I was a member of the organization for 5 years, and a part of its administration for 3. I left the primary organization due to administrative disagreements. I left the WoW guild just this night in order to pursue a more progressive and active PvE guild.
Watchers – About the time I left Watchers on the EverQuest server Cazic-Thule, the guild had recruited a number of jerks that had ruined a number of raids, and had caused a lot of drama that drove a lot of good players away. I was about ready to quit EverQuest at this part, but I decided to instead try out a new guild. I went to Triality.
Triality was a great guild, definitely one of the best and most organized raiding guilds that I have ever been a part of. Raid orders were carried out with clock work efficiency, and I had the privilege of working with some of the very best players of all of EverQuest while being a part of a guild that literally pioneered new content as expansions released. I was with them as they progressed all the way through the Prophecy of Ro expansion, and enjoyed the accomplishment of overcoming the boss of the expansion. I eventually left due to my inability to uphold the 13/14 night raiding schedule after I started dating. I was attending about 7 raids every two weeks with them, but that was under their requirements. I removed myself however even though the guild was willing to give me a little bit more time to try and work out my schedule, and I have not logged on to EQ but one time since I left the guild. The end of my membership with Triality was more or less linked with my retirement from Everquest.
-Gear
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Vashj&n=Vazen At the time of making this link, its lacking a few of the upgrades I’ve gotten today. I know this will probably be the weakest part of my application, but I can assure you I have been working rapidly at improving my gear. The shoulders, helm, robe, and gloves are upgrades I’ve gotten in just the past 4 days, and I am still farming BGs and such to at least get a set of PvP gear, while trying to finish out my Frozen Shadoweave Armor.
-UI: I am having a bit of trouble with my photobucket so I can’t post my screenshot right at the moment. My interface is simple though. I mostly use the main interface, with the addition of Titan Panel, Cartographer, and Monkeybuddy.
Edit: Photobucket fixed, here's my UI:

Experience
-PvE Experience: On WoW, I’m still a little new to it, but I take notes in a notebook, and I’m doing my best to learn fast. I’m also not afraid of anything!
-Class Experience: Mages are what I do. About 90% of the time I’ve spent playing WoW has been on a mage. I’ve not just played one, I’ve frequently bothered other mage friends for tips, and I’ve done some online research for ways to play a mage that I try to apply to my game play. I can’t say I’m the best, but I’m sure as heck doing whatever I can to get as close to it as possible.
-Experience Comments: In Everquest, I had raided absolutely everything there was to raid from Ruins of Kunark all the way up to the Prophecy of Ro expansion. I had completed the Prophecy of Ro expansion and beaten its boss months before the following expansion released, a little time before I retired..
-Class/Game Enjoyment: The thing I love most about the class I play is the feel of it. Whether throwing fire balls or ice blasts or whatever, it just feels good to be a mage. I love doing the DPS since most of the classes I’ve played in previous MMOs were either healers, support, or tanking classes. I also like having the option of kiting when needed, and also having some degree of control over the pacing of a fight. The most challenging thing for me so far has been the PvP. I’ve definitely gotten a lot better recently, but I find it incredibly frustrating to be so outmatched by other cloth classes that have 3x my hp! In the PvE, I haven’t really met many situations I wasn’t able to figure out. The easiest thing about playing my class is just the groove of it in soloing, instancing, and PvE content in general. The patterns for dishing out DPS, the tricks for maintaining CC, and I just enjoy my role in a group as the DPSer and CCer. I also tend to do fairly well at balancing my agro/DPS since I had that concept beaten into my skull in my many years of EQ. Its almost impossible for me not to compare WoW to EverQuest, so forgive me again for doing so. I like how unique each of the classes feel, as too often in EverQuest there was just so much over lap that it sometimes felt a little bland. Also from what I have seen of the raid encounters, I like the intricacies of them. As fun as Main Tank, Main Healer, everyone else just beat the thing down strategies are, I do like a bit more strategic depth to it. One of my favorite EQ raids for those of you who know of them, was the dining hall in Demiplane where you have to fight off wave after wave of different monster types while having to constantly provide the next line of poetic lyric to the four minstrels in the room. Its one of the most chaotic events I’ve ever seen, but when done right its complex demands met were like an orchestra learning to play harmoniously .
Last Comments
-Devastation References: I know Ply so far, and I’ve talked with Sugar briefly about joining. I also got the crap kicked out of me by Tuefel in a duel, but hey I dropped him to 3k, so I considered that an accomplishment!
-Non-Devastation References: Oh hm, lets see. I suppose you could talk to Ply, or some of my old guild mates like Mackey, Smilee, Ason, or Tanksalot. I’ve also grouped several times with and become friends with Mauvers, Holydiver, and Icelilly, as well as Dralith.
-Why Devastation? Devastation has a reputation of excellence from what I have heard on the servers, and from what I have seen on the guild page and discovered in talking to people about its raiding drive and ability has impressed me further. I know that currently my gear is a little under par, but back in my EQ days my guild had a saying, “Good players get good gear, but good gear doesn’t make good players” I am hoping that I can make an impression as a good player in Devastation, and be considered by its leadership and member base as an asset to the guild, and the WoW community in general. As far as my expectations: I expect honesty in expectations, with fair opportunity to rise up to them. I want the opportunity to show my willingness to join by gearing up at a reasonably quick pace, and a chance to learn how to raid efficiently in WoW, and then the opportunity to progress with the guild in overcoming the many raid trials to come. I want to be a gear in a working machine, not the kid with his hand out waiting for free candy to come out of the machine.
Your Turn
My only question: What can I do? I want to serve the guild I am a part of, and I want to do it efficiently. All I want to ask, is what can I do in order to do so properly?
As for myself, my name is Brandon and I am a senior student at Southeastern University. My studies are focused on philosophy and theology. I enjoy video gaming, Warhammer 40k, rollerblading, reading, socializing, and long walks on the beach… okay the long walks on the beach isn’t something I’m quite as crazy on. I am 20 years old, soon to turn 21 (May 1st). I work as an assistant to the professor of Ethics, Theology, and Apologetics here on campus. I have always loved raiding on MMOs, and I can’t wait to get back in to it again, hopefully with Devastation. I’m also always up for chatting, so feel free to send me a tell anytime. I rarely play any character but Vazen.
